Greg Starr, Pastor

Greg Starr has served as the pastor for New Life Church of Hershey since 2012. He and his wife, Amy, have found New Life to be a great place to raise their two children, Emma and Collin. They appreciate the intergenerational feel of the church, the loving concern that the people have for one another, and the ways that people use the gifts and skills that God has given them to serve within the church, throughout the local community, and around the world.

Prior to serving at New Life, Greg was an associate pastor in two other Brethren in Christ churches for a total of nine years. Greg has a bachelor's degree in Christian ministries from Messiah University and a master's degree in church history from Ashland Theological Seminary. Greg came to faith in Jesus Christ as a child and counts himself blessed to have grown up in a family where commitment to Christ and to the church were modeled well.

When not preaching, teaching, leading, praying, caring, and enjoying the people of New Life, Greg enjoys driving his children around and supporting them in their various academic, athletic, musical, and faith-building pursuits. He enjoys the times that he and Amy can carve out for themselves during this season of life. And he enjoys remodeling his house to better serve his family and all who enter their home.

Ellen Grosh, Pastoral Intern & Admin

Ellen Grosh began serving at New Life in January 2022. She helps to lead adult Bible studies, preach on Sunday mornings, and intentionally participates in rhythms of small church life. In addition to her pastoral work, she serves as the church’s admin, helping to manage the behind the scenes details.

Ellen graduated from Gordon College with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. She loves discovering connections across the Bible, learning about the historical context for Scripture, and making the Bible accessible to anyone from children and teens to adults. Creating innovative curriculums for different age groups is her delight! It is a gift to see hearts and minds awaken to the truth and the beauty of Scripture.

You can often find Ellen at local coffee shops having long conversations about life and the work Jesus is doing. She is a strong supporter of the arts and loves a night out to the theater or a day trip to an art museum. These days, her art looks like practicing floral arrangements for her wedding to her high school sweetheart.
